"You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough"

You can't argue with success. And after the GSX-R750 won an astonishing third consecutive AMA 750cc Supersport Championship, the editors of Motorcyclist magazine could only do one thing: name it "Best 750 Sportbike" of the year for the second year in a row.
For 1999, the GSX-R750 is modified for even better performance, with a refined transmission that shifts more smoothly than ever. Its other championship-winning designs promise to extend its domination. The liquid-cooled, double-overhead-cam engine's valve timing is tuned for optimum low-end and mid-range power. Its short, downdraft intake ports and short-stroke design help it produce exceptional high-rpm performance. And its two-stage digital fuel injection system ensures crisp throttle response at every point in the powerband.

The engine is also extremely compact. It uses SCEM-coated cylinder bores in place of typical cast-iron liners, which narrow the engine. A side-mounted cam chain allows the use of five main-bearing journals instead of six, further narrowing the powerplant. In addition, the engine is shorter than conventional designs, thanks to transmission shafts mounted behind and below the crankshaft. The compact engine allows the GSX-R750 to have a nimble 55.2-inch wheelbase and 24 degrees of rake, which helps it respond to your input with uncanny precision.

Complementing those impressive chassis dimensions is a healthy dose of advanced technology that allows the GSX-R750 to maintain its composure even during severe cornering or braking. It features a rigid, diamond-type aluminum frame. Fully adjustable inverted forks and a fully adjustable single shock rear suspension system offer extraordinary performance on a variety of tracks. A steering damper is standard. And state-of-the-art dual front disc brakes with six-piston calipers offer world-class stopping ability.

For 1999, it's your turn to get on a winning streak: the GSX-R750.
